Using DSLR video

I've been shooting Video with professional video cams for the past five years but I have to admit, and believe it or not, i've never worked with DSLR cameras before! DSLRs are gaining in popularity and not for just photo shoots but also for video. I've been seeing them used lately for weddings, music videos, web series and much more.  I've wanted to own a DSLR for the longest time but I spent my savings on a nice pro vid cam ( the Panasonic HMC40 ) so I knew I wasn't going to get a DSLR anytime soon. That was two years ago though and I finally decided to take the plunge into the world of DSLR videography and I bought myself a new toy this Christmas, the Canon 60D and let me just say that I absolutely LOVE IT!

Now when you ask the average VJ nine out of ten times they'd tell you DSLRs are not great for shooting broadcast quality professional video. Reasons include poor audio quality, and lack of accessible controls to things like white balance, exposure, zebra stripes and things like that which can make it hard to work with if you're covering events, press conferences and TV stories. Now that I've had the camera for a little less than a month I am loving shooting video with this camera and I think it's TV worthy, hehe.

The camera came with a 18-200mm lens and I bought an extra 50mm 1.8 lens (which they call the nifty fifty). It was recommended by friends to because of its ability to get an awesome Bokeh effect ( a very shallow depth of field). Now I'm not an expert on DSLRs and there is tons to learn about this camera, but I have to say I am a big fan and here is a little video I shot of my little girl.
